Lace Charts Demystified

Class size is limited to 6 students per class.
Our goal for this class is to help you to decode and effectively begin to utilize charts.  This will be a very hands on class, with two instructors per class.  This will allow us to spend more time with each student and hopefully answer as many questions as possible.
You must be comfortable with such stitches as knit, purl, SSK, YO and K2tog,  SKPsso, Centered double decreases,   in order to get the most out of this class.
We will explain how written instructions convert to charts and provide a chart pattern to decode and knit.
Also, we invite any student to bring in a chart pattern about which they have questions.

Materials & Supplies :  Pencil, colored pencils or fine colored marking pens, ruler, smooth cotton thread (unwaxed, white, unscented dental floss works very well), and  a large eye tapestry or darning needle.   A magnet board would also be useful.

Homework :  Please prepare a swatch in LIGHT COLORED, SOLID WORSTED WEIGHT YARN  — no variegated yarn,  no fuzzy yarns.   Please use a size 7 or 8 needle.
Cast on 40 stitches work 4 rows garter.   Continue in stockinette stitch maintaining a border of 4 garter stitches on each side of the center stockinette section.    Work for approximately 3 inches.  Do not bind off.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  As this class will be held in our upstairs classroom, please make sure you are comfortable climbing stairs.
