Knitting Academy

Knitting Academy is a series of weekly classes for beginners and near beginners. Students work on samples first to acquire skills then knit and felt a small handbag. When you have completed the first four classes of the Knitting Academy you will be able to cast on and bind off, to knit and purl, to increase and decrease, to read your stitches and correct errors, and to follow patterns with directions written or charted. All this in 4 weeks! The series is sequential, one class prepares you for the next, so If you cannot come to one of the scheduled classes, please call to schedule a make-up class before the next class meeting. Make up a class at one of our scheduled Basics and Beyond classes or at another time when a teacher is available.

Materials required:  Seiffert’s, Fearless Knitting Workbook, US #8 straights, 1 ball worsted wt yarn, ring markers, 16″ circular needle, 1 skein Lamb’s Pride worsted for felted clutch project.

Skills required:  CO, K, P, BO

Skills learned:  understand and follow written and charted knitting directions, increases and decreases, 3 needle BO
